04.02.2021 | 11:58 PM | SANTA ANA – A man who was hurling tiles from the roof of a commercial building was hospitalized after he fell while surrendering to police, late Friday night.
Officers responded to reports of vandalism in-progress at a commercial building in the 900 block of East First Street, near Standard Avenue, shortly before midnight.
When officers arrived on scene they located an adult male on the roof of the building throwing clay roof tiles.
A fire truck responded to assist officers in accessing the suspect but when it arrived the man abruptly surrendered.
While surrendering the suspect fell from the roof and sustained an apparent leg injury.
Firefighter paramedics treated the suspect’s leg injury and transported him to an area hospital.
Video from the scene shows the remnants of clay tiles littered across a parking lot but the extent of the damage caused by the suspect remains under investigation.
