09.13.2026 | 12:18 AM | IRVINE – Two people, including a South OC Cars and Coffee founder, were killed in a fiery McLaren crash, early Sunday morning.
The collision occurred on Culver Drive near Deerfield Drive when a grey 2019 McLaren lost control and struck a tree a high-speeds around 12:18 AM, according to a Irvine Police Department press release.
The force of the impact caused the McLaren to split in half and catch fire.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and found two occupants deceased in the wreckage, the release added.
Social media posts by family confirmed the driver of the McLaren was 27-year-old James Wehr. Wehr was a founder of the highly successful South OC Cars and Coffee event. His passenger has yet to be identified.
About an hour before the deadly collision Wehr reportedly posted a image appearing to show his vehicle stopped by the Newport Beach Police Department, the California Post reported.
