Santa Ana: Arson Fires Threaten Homes Along Bike Trail

11.26.2020 | 12:42 AM | SANTA ANA – At least one person was detained after multiple fires arson fires threatened homes along a bike trail, early Thursday morning.

The fires were reported around 12:42 AM along the bike trail behind the Saddleback High School between Bristol and Flower streets.

When authorities arrived on scene they found multiple spot fires along the bike trail threatening homes adjacent in the 900 block of West Alton Avenue.

Citizens and police officers used garden hoses to protect the homes while firefighters extinguished the fires.

At least one suspect was detained by police on suspicion of setting the fires. That person was being interviewed by fire investigators.

The motive for the fires remains under investigation.
