Garden Grove: Suspicious Dumpster Fire Damages Auto Shop, Suspect Detained

06.14.2021 | 10:34 PM | GARDEN GROVE – One person was detained after a suspicious dumpster fire damaged an auto repair shop, Monday night.

The fire was reported near L-H Auto Repair and Smog, located in the 13100 block of Magnolia Street, around 10:30 PM.

When crews arrived on scene they located a dumpster fire next to the commercial building with flames extending to the eaves.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and prevented the fire from damaging the building any further.

Police detained one man who appeared to be in possession of lighter fluid and matches and placed him into the back of a patrol car after questioning.

Calls seeking additional information regarding the circumstances of the man’s apparent arrest were unsuccessful.

An investigation is ongoing.
