Santa Ana: Shooting Victim Dies In Downtown Building

02.05.2022 | 11:52 PM | SANTA ANA – A shooting victim died in a downtown building just feet from where another shooting death occurred two weeks earlier, late Saturday night.

The shooting was reported in the 300 block of West 5th Street, near North Broadway, around 11:52 PM.

Officers arriving on scene forced their way into a building where they found a male adult suffering from a gunshot wound on the first floor.

Firefighter paramedics attempted to provide medical care but ultimately pronounced the man deceased. He was later identified by authorities as 32-year-old Pablo De Jesus Lopez, of Pacoima.

Police cordoned off the area surrounding the building and marked evidence along the sidewalk just feet away from where another shooting claimed the life of a teenager.

That shooting, which stemmed from a dispute inside a nearby bar, resulted in one man being arrested and charged with murder.

It was unclear what led up to the most recent shooting although the investigation is still in its infancy.

Anyone with information regarding the deadly shooting is urged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department’s Homicide Section by calling (714) 245-8390.
