Santa Ana: Teen Shot To Death Outside Recording Studio In Downtown

01.22.2022 | 10:40 PM | SANTA ANA – A teenager was shot to death outside a recording studio in the downtown area, late Saturday night.

The teen was found near an SUV by officers responding to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of West 5th Street, near North Broadway Avenue, around 10:40 PM.

Firefighter paramedics responded to the scene and later pronounced the teen deceased. He was later identified by police as 18-year-old Zion Gonzalez of Moreno Valley.

Radio traffic suggested the victim may have sustained a gunshot wound to his head although that information could not be immediately confirmed.

Officers searched a nearby building that houses a recording studio and used a police helicopter to scour the area for potential suspects although no arrests were reported.

The scene surrounding the man was cordoned off and officers were interviewing potential witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from the area.

No suspect description was immediately available but authorities urged anyone with information to contact the Santa Ana Police Department’s Homicide Section by calling (714) 245-8390.
