Santa Ana: Burglary Suspect Kidnaps Victim Before Barricading Himself Inside Home

02.22.2023 | 10:15 AM | SANTA ANA – A burglary suspect that kidnapped a resident was arrested by police after a standoff, Thursday morning.

The incident began to unfold when authorities responded to reports of a kidnapping at a mobile home park located in the 800 block of South Sullivan Street around 10:15 AM.

Officers learned that the a suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Jesse Manuel Fuerte, of Santa Ana, had entered a mobile home and forced a victim inside to drive him to the 1000 block of North Raitt Street.

Fuerte, who was believed to be armed with a deadly weapon during the kidnapping, later fled the area on foot.

Subsequent callers reported a man attempting to enter homes in the 2000 block of West 11th Street around 11:15 AM.

When police arrived in the area they determined both incidents were connected and that Fuerte had made his way inside a home.

Residents of the home were quickly evacuated while a hours long standoff continued.

Fuerte eventually surrendered to police was booked into the Santa Ana Jail on charges of burglary and kidnapping.

Nearby Fremont Elementary School was placed on lockdown while the incident was unfolding.
