Santa Ana: Driver Flees Following Violent Crash Into Apartment That Pinned Woman

05.01.2023 | 10:19 PM | SANTA ANA – The driver of a minivan that plowed into an apartment leaving an innocent woman pinned in the wreckage is being sought by authorities after fleeing the scene, Monday night.

The crash occurred at Vista del Rio, a two-story apartment building for persons suffering from physical and developmental disabilities, located in the 1600 block of West Memory Lane around 10:19 PM.

When first responders arrived they found a Toyota Sienna inside of a first-floor with a female adult from the apartment pinned underneath.

Crews worked to stabilize and move the vehicle enough to extricate the woman who was rushed to an area hospital in serious condition.

A second victim believed to be an occupant from the same apartment sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene before being transported to a hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the Toyota fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement and is being sought by police.

A similar incident in August of 2021 resulted in one woman being apprehended after crashing into the same building and attempting to flee on foot.
