08.08.2021 | 1:40 AM | SANTA ANA – A woman who crashed into an apartment building for persons with disabilities was apprehended after attempting to flee on foot, early Sunday morning.
The crash occurred around 1:40 AM at the Vista del Rio Apartments, an apartment complex for persons with physical and developmental disabilities, located in the 1600 block of West Memory Lane.
Units arriving on scene located a black 2000 Acura TL that had struck a parked vehicle. a bollard, and a pillar before coming to rest against the building.
The female driver attempted to flee the location on foot but was quickly apprehended by law enforcement less than a block away.
She was evaluated by firefighter paramedics and initially refused medical treatment but later requested transport to an area hospital.
One resident from the apartment complex was evaluated for injuries but refused additional treatment.
A building inspector is working with fire officials to determine whether the building is safe to inhabit.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led up to the crash including the role of drugs or alcohol, if any.
