Santa Ana: Officer-Involved Shooting Following Traffic Stop Injures Suspect

04.07.2023 | 6:40 PM | SANTA ANA – A suspect was injured following a traffic stop that resulted in a officer-involved shooting, Friday evening.

The shooting occurred during a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 600 block of South Rosewood Street around 6:40 PM, police said.

The shooting injured one person described as a suspect who was taken to an area hospital where they were in stable condition.

The age and gender of the suspect was not immediately available and the circumstances that led up to the traffic stop were not disclosed.

Radio traffic indicated that there were reports of shots fired a short distance away, in the 400 block of South Shelton Street, around the same time however any connection between the incidents could not be confirmed.

An extensive investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies is underway, as is routine in officer-involved shootings.
