Yorba Linda: Four Deputies Making Arrest Injured When DUI Driver Crashes Into Patrol Vehicles

07.19.2022 | 9:30 AM | YORBA LINDA – Four deputies and a misdemeanor suspect were injured when a suspected DUI driver collided with several patrol vehicles causing a chain-reaction crash during an unrelated arrest, Tuesday morning.

The four deputies were arresting a misdemeanor suspect near the intersection of Imperial Highway and Casa Loma Avenue  around 12:25 AM when a maroon Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound on Imperial Highway struck several patrol vehicles stopped at the scene.

The impact caused a chain-reaction crash that forced the patrol vehicles forward, injuring four sheriff deputies along with the misdemeanor arrestee.

All five victims were rushed to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions varied from minor to moderate, authorities said.

The driver of the Silverado that struck the deputies was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI although their identity was not immediately released.

A total of four police vehicles were damaged in the collision.
