07.30.2021 | 10:35 PM | TUSTIN – A suspected DUI driver ran a red light before slamming into another vehicle while driving recklessly, Friday night.
A 911 caller was reporting a possible DUI driver in a black GMC pickup truck that was weaving in and out lanes and driving recklessly along Edinger Avenue around 10:31 PM.
Moments later, while still on the phone with emergency dispatchers, the caller reported that the GMC ran a red light and collided with a blue Chevrolet Bolt at the intersection of Edinger and Harvard avenues.
Units arriving on scene learned that nobody was seriously injured and detained the driver of the GMC pending a DUI investigation.
The man was later placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI after performing a battery of field sobriety tests.
Officers on scene said the truck was not reported stolen but was displaying plates that did not belong to the vehicle. This is commonly referred to as being “cold-plated.”
