03.06.2022 | 1:47 AM | TUSTIN – A woman was trapped in her car and had to be freed after a crash involving another driver who may have been DUI, early Sunday morning.

The crash was reported on the northbound SR-55 Freeway just south of Edinger Avenue around 1:47 AM.

When authorities arrived on scene they located a silver Toyota 4Runner overturned on its roof and a black Lexus sedan that had collided and were blocking lanes.

The driver of the Lexus, a female adult, was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters using the Jaws of Life in a process that took about 10 minutes.

She was then rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Her condition was not immediately known.

The driver of the Toyota, a male adult, was apparently uninjured and placed into police custody after being administered preliminary field sobriety tests.

All lanes of the freeway were closed briefly but reopened within an hour.
