Tustin: Pedestrian Struck By Suspected DUI Driver

04.02.2022 | 10:02 PM | TUSTIN – A pedestrian was rushed to a hospital after being struck by a suspected DUI driver, Saturday night.

The traffic collision involving a pedestrian was reported near the intersection of McFadden and Newport avenues shortly after 10:00 PM.

Officers arriving on scene located a male down in the roadway and began rendering aid until medics arrived.

The pedestrian was later rushed by an ambulance to a nearby hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

The driver that struck the pedestrian parked at a nearby gas station and was placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI after performing field sobriety tests.

Both the suspected DUI driver and his female passenger were uninjured.

All northbound lanes of Newport Avenue were closed at Walnut Avenue for about an hour while police investigated.
