Tustin: Fiery Crash Leaves Motorcyclist Dead, Two Cars Burned to a Crisp

01.24.2025 | 11:40 PM | TUSTIN – A motorcyclist was killed in a fiery crash involving five vehicles, two of which were burnt to a crisp, late Friday night.

The fiery chain-reaction collision was reported on the southbound SR-55 Freeway just south of Edinger Avenue around 11:40 PM when several vehicles collided.

The exact sequence of events remains unclear but when authorities arrived they located a black Honda Civic, a white Scion FR-S, a white Tesla, a Volkswagen hatchback, and a motorcycle spread across all lanes of the freeway.

The Tesla, Volkswagen and motorcycle were engulfed in heavy fire along with the motorcycle rider who’s clothes were burning.

Officers pulled the motorcycle rider away from the flames and extinguished the fire burning his clothes before initiating CPR though medics later pronounced the rider deceased on scene.

Medics evaluated the occupants of the other vehicles involved, all but one of whom refused medical treatment at the scene. One person was transported to OC Global Medical Center as a precaution.

All southbound lanes of SR-55 Freeway were closed for over an hour while authorities attended to the scene and investigated the circumstances surrounding the fiery fatal collision.
