Tustin: Driver Reportedly Flees After Hitting E-Scooter Rider

04.14.2021 | 8:58 PM | TUSTIN – A man riding an electric scooter was injured after being struck by a driver who reportedly fled the scene, Wednesday night.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Tustin Ranch Road and El Camino Real shortly before 9:00 PM.

Officers arriving on scene located a male scooter rider along with his scooter down in the intersection with several vehicles stopped nearby.

The injured rider was treated by firefighter paramedics before being rushed to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Witnesses on scene said that two vehicles, a blue Toyota Prius and a white vehicle, struck the rider after he entered a crosswalk going against a red light.

Both vehicles initially stopped but the driver of the white vehicle later left the scene, according to witnesses.

The driver of the Toyota remained on scene and was cooperating with law enforcement.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
