Tustin: Car Fire Breaks Out At Apartment Building

09.21.2020 | 2:34 AM | TUSTIN – A car fire in a garage below an apartment building prompted evacuations, early Monday morning.

The fire was first reported in the parking garage of the Amalfi Apartments located in the 16000 block of Legacy Road around 2:34 AM.

Crews arriving on scene located a four-story apartment building with heavy smoke and fire coming from a vehicle parked in the first-floor garage.

Firefighters quickly doused the flames and extinguished the vehicle fire in under 10 minutes.

The work of firefighters spared surrounding vehicles and property from further damage.

Residents evacuated from apartments above the fire but were later allowed to return once the incident was under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but no injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
