Stanton: Pedestrian Fatally Struck While Crossing Street Against Traffic

09.29.2019 | 12:29 AM | STANTON – A pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing against traffic along a busy street, early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue around 12:29 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a pedestrian down in southbound lanes along with a newer-model white Toyota.

Firefighter paramedics attempted life-saving measures on scene before pronouncing the victim deceased from their injuries.

The driver of the Toyota remained on scene and was cooperating with law enforcement.

Authorities said they do not believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

A witness reported seeing the pedestrian crossing against traffic and stated that the Toyota had a green light at the time of the collision.

All southbound lanes of Beach Boulevard were closed at Chapman Avenue while authorities investigated.
