Silverado: Driver Dead After Car Crashes Into Ditch

01.07.2022 | 8:37 PM | SILVERADO – A driver was dead after crashing into a ditch and becoming trapped in their vehicle, Friday night.

The crash was reported on Santiago Canyon Road near Blue Diamond Haul Road around 8:37 PM, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.

When authorities arrived on scene they discovered a black 2018 Honda Civic that was about 20-feet down a ditch with a solo occupant trapped inside, the log added.

Firefighters attempted to render aid to the victim but later pronounced them deceased on scene, according to radio traffic.

The victim was later identified by authorities as 17-year-old Benjamin Broughton, of Foothill Ranch.

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
