Santa Ana: Trapped Victims Freed From Car After Extended Extrication

11.07.2021 | 1:06 AM | SANTA ANA – Two people had to be extricated after a crash left them trapped in their vehicle, early Sunday morning.

The crash was reported on the eastbound MacArthur Boulevard on ramp to the southbound SR-55 Freeway shortly after 1:00 AM.

Crews arriving on scene located a dark grey Dodge Charger that had crashed down an embankment after failing to negotiate a curve.

Two people, a male driver and female passenger, were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated in a process that spanned over 30 minutes.

Both victims were rushed to OC Global Medical Center as “critical trauma” patients, according to radio traffic.

A car seat for a small child was removed from the vehicle but the child was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The circumstances surrounding the crash, including the role of drugs or alcohol, remain under investigation.
