Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist at the intersection of East Warner Avenue and South Main Street around 5:20 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a bicyclist down suffering from life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

Firefighter paramedics treated the victim on scene before transporting him to an area hospital in critical condition with major head trauma.

The vehicle that struck the bicyclist, a dark blue 1995-1996 Honda Civic sedan, fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

Authorities closed off traffic to the intersection while they worked to investigate the crash but on three different occasions vehicles barreled through the scene.

The errant drivers, which were caught on camera, almost struck officers prompting them to throw a roll of crime scene tape and a flare at the vehicles.

At least two of the drivers were stopped shortly after but released.
