Santa Ana: Third-Alarm Fire Displaces Numerous Motel Residents

10.23.2021 | 2:36 AM | SANTA ANA – An outdoor fire spread to a motel and erupted into a third-alarm incident that displaced numerous occupants, early Saturday morning.

The fire was first reported behind the Royal Grand Inn, a motel located in the 1500 block of East First Street, shortly after 2:30 AM.

Crews arriving on scene located an outdoor fire that had spread to a motel room and requested additional resources to assist in battling the blaze.

Firefighters worked to evacuate the motel and extinguish the flames before they could spread to adjacent rooms.

It took about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire but numerous occupants of the motel were displaced as a result of the blaze.

No injuries were immediately reported and the Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced occupants in finding shelter.

Fire investigators are on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
