05.06.2022 | 10:30 PM | SANTA ANA – A south Orange County piano teacher was sentenced to 100 years to life in prison after being convicted of molesting young girls during music lessons over the course of two decades.

John Mordecai Scott VI, 65, of Lake Forest, was sentenced to what amounted to life in prison following his Mar. 14 conviction of 13 felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, five felony counts of a lewd act upon a child age 14 or 15, one felony count of use of an underage person for obscene matter, one felony count of possession of child pornography, one felony count of exhibition of lewd material to a minor, one felony count of distributing pornography to a minor with the intent to engage in sexual conduct, and one misdemeanor count of annoying or molesting a child under 18.

Those charges came after authorities learned that Scott, who was working as a piano teacher at two different music studios along with his home, had used his position to molest girls from 7 to 15 years old since as early as 1996.

Scott not only groped his students but also photographed at least one of them inappropriately while showing others pornographic images.

A search of Scott’s Lake Forest home in 2014 led to the discovery of a large amount of child pornography.
