Santa Ana: Robbery Suspect Shot Dead By Police After Lengthy Standoff

09.28.2021 | 5:00 PM | SANTA ANA – An armed robbery suspect was shot dead by police after a leading officers on a pursuit that ended in a lengthy standoff, Tuesday evening.

The pursuit began when officers attempted to stop an armed robbery suspect driving a stolen vehicle in Santa Ana around 5:00 PM.

The driver of the vehicle fled but later became stuck in a construction area near Santa Ana Boulevard and Bristol Street prompting an hours long standoff.

Officers attempted to coax the suspect from the vehicle but were unsuccessful and later deployed chemical agents.

When the suspect was overwhelmed by chemical agents and exited the vehicle an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was pronounced deceased on scene.
