Santa Ana: Rioters Pelt Officers With Fireworks, Other Debris (Caught On Camera)

05.30.2020 | 8:00 PM | SANTA ANA – Rioters pelted officers with fireworks, bottles, rocks, and other debris while vandalizing and looting, Saturday night.

The unrest began at the intersection of Bristol Street and McFadden Avenue around 8:00 PM.

Officers from numerous agencies responded to keep the rioters in check and used scrimmage lines along with tear gas and pepper balls to push the groups south on Bristol Street.

Rioters used fireworks, bottles, rocks, and other debris to pelt officers on scene and injuring at least one.

A shooting broke out along McFadden Avenue at South Pacific Avenue and injured one person prompting them to be transported to an area hospital.

As the riots continued looting and vandalism began to occur with police vehicles and businesses being tagged with graffiti and windows of the Santa Ana College Digital Media Center being smashed.

Looting occurred further south at a O’reilly’s Auto Parts and Smart & Final near the intersection of Bristol Street and Edinger Avenue around 11:00 PM and prompted store employees to shelter in a room inside.

A majority of the rioters and looters began to leave the area around 11:30 PM and law enforcement remained on the scene to ensure additional looting did not occur.
