11.08.2019 | 8:41 PM | SANTA ANA – A replica handgun was found inside of a burning car, Friday night.
Authorities responded to reports of a car fire in the parking lot of IHOP near the intersection of South Lyon Street and East Edinger Avenue around 8:41 PM.
Crews arriving on scene quickly doused the flames within minutes and prevented the fire from spreading further into the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
During firefighting efforts an object that appeared to be a handgun was located inside. Further investigation revealed the item was a replica handgun or toy gun.
The cause of the fire is believed to be mechanical in nature and the driver of the vehicle was uninjured.
