Santa Ana: Pedestrian Waiting At Bus Stop Killed By Hit & Run Driver

09.19.2022 | 7:00 PM | SANTA ANA – A pedestrian waiting at a bus stop was killed by a hit-and-run driver that was later apprehended and charged with DUI, police announced Monday.

The pedestrian, who was not publicly identified, died less than a day after the Sunday, September 18th crash that occurred in the 1500 block of South Fairview Street, near Edinger Avenue, around 4:58 PM.

Authorities say the pedestrian was waiting at a bus stop when they were struck by a northbound vehicle. Medics rushed the pedestrian to a nearby hospital where they died about nine hours later.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and was located by officers. They were arrested and charged with felony counts of driving under the influence and hit-and-run. Their identity was not released.
