07.29.2025 | 10:54 PM | SANTA ANA – A pedestrian died after being struck by a DUI suspect, late Tuesday night.
The collision was reported on South Bristol Street at West Central Avenue around 10:54 PM when a vehicle struck the pedestrian in the roadway.
Medics rushed to the scene and administered first aid before rushing the pedestrian, later identified as 66-year-old John Valenzuela Luera, of Santa Ana, to a nearby trauma center where he was pronounced deceased.
A police watch commander confirmed that the driver that struck the pedestrian remained on scene and was cooperating with law enforcement.
Police later placed the driver that struck the pedestrian under arrest on suspicion of DUI.
It is unclear if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk when the collision occurred and additional details regarding the deadly collision remain under investigation.
