Santa Ana: Pedestrian On Freeway Killed By Vehicle

05.31.2022 | 10:45 PM | SANTA ANA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle following reports that they were walking in lanes, Tuesday night.

The deadly collision occurred just minutes after authorities received of a pedestrian in lanes of the southbound I-5 Freeway just north of 17th Street around 9:12 PM.

When first responders arrived they located a pedestrian down in the roadway along with a blue Subaru Outback stopped nearby.

Medics pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. Their identity was not immediately disclosed.

The Subaru, which was believed to have struck the pedestrian, was towed from the scene, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.

It remains unclear why the pedestrian was walking in freeway lanes.
