02.09.2025 | 10:23 PM | SANTA ANA – A pedestrian was dead after being struck by a vehicle, Sunday night.
The traffic collision was reported in the 2100 block of West 17th Street when a white Nissan SUV struck a pedestrian around 10:23 PM.
The pedestrian, later identified as 49-year-old Carmelo Salazar Garcia, of Santa Ana, sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased on scene by medics.
The Nissan sustained front end damage and stopped shortly after the collision. It’s driver remained on scene and appeared to be cooperating with law enforcement.
All westbound lanes of West 17th Street were closed at King Street until further notice while authorities investigated the deadly collision.
