Santa Ana: Pedestrian Killed By Hit & Run Driver

07.12.2024 | 11:44 PM | SANTA ANA – A pedestrian was killed on the I-5 Freeway by a hit-and-run driver who is being sought by police, late Friday night.

Callers reported a pedestrian down on the shoulder of the southbound I-5 Freeway near 4th Street around 11:44 PM.

When authorities arrived they located a hispanic male adult down along with several CalTrans workers nearby.

Medics attempted to revive the pedestrian but ultimately pronounced him deceased on scene.

Officers quickly learned that a white Mercedes-Benz had struck the pedestrian before fleeing the area without stopping.

Despite a search of the area from the ground and air, the Mercedes was not immediately located.

It is unclear why the pedestrian was on the freeway or if he was associated with the CalTrans crew that was stopped nearby.
