01.18.2023 | 8:06 PM | SANTA ANA – A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver prompting an investigation that left residents unable to return home for hours, Wednesday night.
The deadly hit-and-run crash was reported in the 2700 block of West First Street, west of Fairview Avenue, around 8:06 PM.
When authorities arrived they found an adult male pedestrian down in lanes and immediately began rendering aid.
Medics rushed the pedestrian to a nearby hospital where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.
The driver that struck the pedestrian fled the scene in an unknown vehicle and is being sought by authorities.
All lanes of West First Street were closed between Jackson and Fairview for approximately five hours while authorities investigated the deadly collision.
The closure left residents of the area unable to return home.
At least 50 people in vehicles packed like sardines in nearby parking lots waited for closures to be lifted so they could return home.
