Santa Ana: Over 40K Newsom Recall Signatures Delivered

03.05.2021 | 12:30 PM | SANTA ANA – A group supporting a petition to recall Governor Gavin Newsom amid his handling of the pandemic turned in over 40,000 signatures to their petition, Friday afternoon.

Members of the group that included local business owners and elected officials gathered outside the Orange County Registrar of Voters located in the 1300 block of South Grand Avenue around 12:30 PM.

Several boxes filled with some 40,000 signatures were loaded onto a cart before being wheeled into the registrar’s office to be officially submitted.

Supporters of the recall need 1,495,709 verified signatures for the recall to be considered by voters in a special election. Estimates put the total number of signatures at around 2,000,000, according to the supporters.

One supporter of the recall, Jovan Wrangle, owns the White House Event Center in Anaheim. Wrangle said the state’s changing guidance for some industries, and lack of guidance for others, has left his life’s work to crumble. Some of the guidance, he said, appears hypocritical by favoring some industries while ignoring others.

Orange County Supervisor Don Wagner also made an appearance to support the recall effort.
