10.07.2025 | 10:46 PM | SANTA ANA – One person was killed and two others were injured after a food truck overturned in a crash with an SUV, Tuesday night.
The collision occurred in the 200 block of West Warner Avenue, near South Broadway, when a 1986 GMC P3500 food truck and a Chevrolet Trailblazer collided around 10:46 PM.
The force of the collision caused the food truck to overturn, ejecting it’s driver and then pinning him beneath the wreckage.
Medics determined the trapped victim, later identified as 67-year-old Richardson Ayala, of Anaheim, had succumbed to their injuries at the scene and pronounced him deceased.
Two other victims, believed to be from the Chevrolet, sustained unknown injuries and were rushed from the scene by ambulance to nearby hospitals.
Initial reports indicate the food truck was traveling westbound on Warner Avenue when the driver attempted to make a left-hand turn in front of oncoming traffic. The eastbound Chevrolet then struck the food truck causing it to overturn.
Both directions of West Warner Avenue were closed between Main Street and South Birch Street until further notice while authorities investigated the deadly collision.
It was unclear whether drugs, alcohol, or speed might have played a role in the crash.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Detective J. Martinez at (714) 245-8207 or the Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Division at (714) 245-8200.
