05.03.2025 | 12:29 AM | SANTA ANA – A police officer was injured in a rollover crash that destroyed his patrol vehicle and three suspects were detained after a pursuit, early Saturday morning.
The incident unfolded at the intersection of West 1st Street and North Sullivan Street around 12:29 AM after radio traffic indicated officers were in a pursuit.
The officer was driving a marked Ford Police Interceptor Utility when he collided with a black four-door vehicle in the intersection causing his patrol vehicle to careen into a power pole and overturn.
The power pole was sheared from its base but the officer sustained only moderate to minor injuries and was later released from a hospital.
An occupant from the black vehicle was also injured and reportedly transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Three suspects were detained two blocks away after a foot pursuit that radio traffic indicated was related to the collision, though all of them declined treatment by medics.
Police refused to release additional information regarding the circumstances of the collision or to confirm whether the officer was involved in the pursuit.
A massive ‘crime scene’ was established in the area for hours while police investigated.
