Santa Ana: Red Light Runner Flees After Causing Officer-Involved Crash

04.30.2025 | 11:44 PM | SANTA ANA – A driver who ran a red light fled after causing an officer-involved collision that left two people with minor injuries, late Tuesday night.

The crash occurred at the intersection of East 1st Street and North Grand Avenue around 11:44 PM when an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle that ran a red light.

While attempting to stop the red light runner, a traffic collision involving the police vehicle and another civilian vehicle occurred in the intersection.

Medics tended to the officer and civilian driver who both sustained minor injuries. The civilian was treated on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital. The officer declined ambulance transport.

The vehicle that the officer was attempting to stop fled the scene and was not immediately located.

The intersection where the collision occurred was closed for several hours while police investigated.
