Santa Ana: Driver With Minor Children Arrested After Crashing Into Police Vehicle

04.01.2023 | 11:08 PM | SANTA ANA – A man driving several small children slammed into a marked police car leading to his arrest on DUI and child endangerment charges, late Saturday night.

The traffic collision involving a Santa Ana Police Department patrol vehicle and a dark colored Chevrolet Tahoe occurred in the 500 block of West Civic Center Drive, near North Ross Street, around 11:08 PM.

Additional units responding to the scene located the police vehicle in the middle of the intersection while the Chevrolet came to rest against a parking meter.

At least 5 individuals from the Chevrolet, including three small children, were transported by ambulance to area hospitals in unknown condition.

The police officer was taken by a fellow officer to a nearby hospital for treatment. His injuries were described as being minor.

The male driver of the Chevrolet was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI along with child endangerment as a result of the collision.
