Santa Ana: Man Crashes While Fleeing Reported Shooting

09.10.2021 | 2:12 AM | SANTA ANA – A man who was reportedly fleeing a shooting crashed into another motorist, early Friday morning.

The incident was reported in the 1400 block of South Main Street, near Edinger Avenue, around 2:12 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a crash involving a white sedan and a red sedan at the intersection of Edinger and Cypress avenues.

The driver of the white sedan was injured as a result of the crash and was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

The driver of the red sedan left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement but officers later learned he had been picked up by a friend and taken to a hospital with minor injuries from broken glass.

According to a police watch commander, the man reported he was in a nearby parking lot when an unknown subject began shooting at him. He then fled the area and crashed.

Several shell casings were located in a parking lot nearby but no suspect description was immediately available.
