Santa Ana: K-9 Helps Apprehend Driver After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

01.16.2021 | 11:33 PM | SANTA ANA – The driver of a reportedly stolen vehicle was apprehended with the help of a police K-9 at the end of a pursuit, late Saturday night.

Tustin police began pursuing a reportedly stolen black BMW sedan occupied by two occupants after it failed to yield around 11:30 PM.

The driver of the vehicle led officers on a brief pursuit that ended when he lost control and jumped a curb on South Grand Avenue, just north of Brookhollow Drive/South Hotel Terrace.

The male driver and female passenger attempted to flee on foot but were both quickly apprehended with the help of a police K-9.

Firefighter paramedics treated the male driver for K-9 bite wounds before transporting him to an area hospital for treatment.

The female was uninjured and being questioned by officers.

It appears the BMW was stolen from a local car dealership however details regarding the theft could not be immediately confirmed.
