Santa Ana: Hit & Run Driver Strikes Man In Mobility Scooter

11.28.2021 | 2:25 AM | SANTA ANA – The driver of an SUV fled after striking a man in a mobility scooter, destroying the scooter, early Sunday morning.

The collision was reported shortly before 2:30 AM near the intersection of South Standard Avenue and East Oxford Street.

When units arrived on scene they located a male victim in a mobility scooter that had been struck by a vehicle.

The man was not seriously injured and declined transport via ambulance to an area hospital however his mobility scooter was destroyed and he had no other way of getting home.

Recognizing the man, who is disabled, was unable to get home on his own officers provided transportation for him.

Witnesses on scene said the driver of a large black SUV struck the man in the mobility scooter before fleeing the scene without stopping.
