Santa Ana: Explosive Fire Guts Vehicle

05.14.2022 | 1:05 AM | SANTA ANA – A man escaped injury but his vehicle was destroyed in an explosive fire, early Saturday morning.

The fire was reported at a parking lot in the 1400 block of South Village Way shortly after 1:00 AM.

When crews arrived on scene they located an older-model Mercedes Benz sedan consumed by fire with small explosions occurring.

Firefighters worked to quickly extinguish the blaze but a punctured fuel tank complicated the firefight.

The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
