Santa Ana: Engine Ejected In Rollover Freeway Crash, Driver Escapes Serious Injury

12.05.2021 | 11:23 PM | SANTA ANA – The driver of a vehicle that overturned in a violent crash escaped serious injury, late Sunday night.

The crash involving a black Scion TC and a white tractor-trailer combination was reported on the southbound I-5 Freeway near First Street around 11:23 PM.

Units arriving on scene located the Scion with major damage along with its engine about 15 feet away.

Despite the damage the driver of the Scion, a male adult, was seen walking around and talking with first responders. He was later transported to OC Global Medical Center with minor injuries.

Initial reports indicate the Scion collided with the tractor-trailer, causing it to launch up an embankment,  overturning and landing on its wheels.

No other injuries were reported and the scene of the crash was cleared in about an hour.
