Santa Ana: Bicyclist Killed By Hit & Run Driver In Bike Lane

02.12.2022 | 4:42 PM | SANTA ANA – A bicyclist riding in a bike lane was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, Saturday evening.

Multiple callers reported a bicyclist down near the intersection of West First and South Newhope streets around 4:42 PM.

When authorities arrived they located the bicyclist down on the sidewalk suffering from injuries consist with being struck by a vehicle.

First responders attempted to revive the downed bicyclist but ultimately pronounced them deceased on scene.

Preliminary reports indicate the bicyclist was traveling eastbound in a bike lane on West First Street when a red Kia sedan, which was also traveling in the bike lane in the same direction, struck them.

The driver of the Kia then fled the scene prior to the arrival of law-enforcement.
