11.04.2019 | 3:02 AM | SANTA ANA – A bicyclist was killed by a driver who fled the scene without stopping, early Monday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a bicycle down in the 300 block of South Newhope Street around 3:02 AM.
Units arriving on scene found an adult male bicyclist down in the roadway suffering from major trauma after apparently being struck by a vehicle.
Firefighter paramedics attempted to perform life-saving measures but later pronounced the man deceased on scene.
The driver that struck the bicyclist fled the scene without stopping.
No suspect or vehicle description was immediately available and all lanes of Newhope were closed between First Street and New Britain Common until further notice while officials investigated.
