Rancho Palos Verdes: Green Gaiter Bandit Arrested After Numerous Bank Robberies

03.01.2022 | 6:00 PM | RANCHOS PALOS VERDES – A man authorities say is responsible for targeting over a dozen banks in Orange and Los Angeles counties was arrested and charged in federal court, police announced Tuesday.

Police arrested 55-year-old Christopher Paul Daniels, of Torrance, in connection with at least 12 bank robberies and attempted robberies while he was inside a white Toyota Yaris in Rancho Palos Verdes on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2022.

Daniels, who wore a green colored gaiter during some of the robberies, earned the moniker ‘Green Gaiter Bandit’ as authorities pursued him.

He was denied bond and held in federal without bail.

The robberies, which began in October 2021 and continued until as recently as Feb. 23, 2022, spiked early this year this year, authorities added.

At least seven other robberies were believed to have been committed by a different, but similarly described, bandit remain under investigation.
