Placentia: Suspected DUI Crash Leaves Three Dead Including Child

01.25.2023 | 8:44 PM | PLACENTIA – Two adults and a child were killed in a suspected DUI crash, Wednesday night.

The deadly crash was reported at the intersection of West Orangethorpe Avenue and South Melrose Street around 8:45 PM.

When authorities arrived they located a black sedan and a white Ford van along with several victims that appeared to have been ejected.

Two victims, identified as Gregoria Ramirez, 65, of Placentia, and Alberto Vicente Lopez, 36, of Anaheim. were pronounced deceased at the scene. Another victim, a 10-year old girl later identified as Lucero Lopez, of Anaheim, was rushed to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Four others sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious in the crash and were treated by medical professionals at nearby hospitals.

The driver of the black sedan, identified as 24-year-old  Mario Armando Paz, of Santa Ana, was placed under arrest on suspicion of felony DUI after being seen performing field sobriety tests.

A third vehicle that appeared to have been parked at the time of the crash sustained minor damage in the incident.
