Orange: Trash Chute Fire Charges Apartment Building With Smoke, Residents Evacuate

12.21.2021 | 10:04 PM | ORANGE – A fire near a trash chute caused smoke to charge an apartment building leading numerous residents to evacuate while others sheltered in place, Monday night.

Fire alarms activated at the Eleven10 Apartments, a five-story apartment building located in the 1000 block of West Town & Country Road, around 10:04 PM.

Crews responding to the scene located smoke coming from a first-floor trash room and extending to the floors above.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which was centered around a trash chute, and worked to remove smoke from the floors above.

Numerous residents were sheltering in place or remaining outside until crews could ensure the building was safe to reoccupy.

A fire investigator is on scene working to determine the cause of the blaze.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
