Orange: Suspected DUI Driver That Fled Fatal Crash Identified

07.25.2022 | 7:00 PM | ORANGE – A suspected DUI driver without a license was arrested following a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian on a sidewalk, police announced Monday.

Jose Antonio Cisnerros Segura, 45, of Anaheim, was arrested following the July 23rd crash that claimed the life of 64-year-old Gary Tripe, an unhoused individual, who was sitting on a sidewalk in the 100 block of North Feldner Road, near West Chapman Avenue, around 8:23 PM.

Segura, who was driving a 1966 GMC pickup truck, fled from the fatal crash and was located by officers a short time later in the 200 block of North Donneybrooke Street. Police say Segura displayed “objective symptoms of intoxication” and was subsequently charged with gross vehicular manslaughter, felony hit-and-run, DUI causing death, and driving without a license.

Jail records indicate Segura is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. His occupation was listed as “mechanic” and he is expected to appear it the Central Jail Court for his next appearance on July 26.
