06.28.2022 | 9:30 PM | ORANGE – Police arrested and charged a repeat DUI driver in connection with a deadly crash, police announced Tuesday.

Tyler Allen Pitchford, 31, of Orange, was arrested by officers Tuesday after being discharged from a local hospital where he was being treated for injuries he sustained in the May 20, 2022 crash.

Pitchford, who was driving a silver Kia Soul, caused the fatal crash when he ran a red light and T-boned a 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 at the intersection of North Tustin Street and Taft Avenue, police said.

The driver of the Porsche died at the scene while Pitchford was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Blood testing later revealed Pitchford was positive for several illicit substances, including Fentanyl.

Police say Pitchford has two prior DUI convictions and is being charged with murder in connection with the deadly crash.

Pitchford is being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1.095 million bail. He is due to appear in court on Jun. 29.
