08.26.2021 | 8:36 PM | ORANGE – A 20-year-old woman running across a street was struck and killed by a vehicle, Thursday night.
The crash involving a pedestrian was reported shortly after 8:30 PM on South Tustin Street over the SR-22 Freeway.
When units arrived on scene they located a 20-year-old female down in the lanes after being struck by a white GMC Terrain.
Firefighter paramedics treated the victim on scene before pronouncing her deceased. She was identified only as a resident of Santa Ana.
The driver of the GM, a female resident of Orange, remained on scene and was cooperating with law enforcement.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, police said they do not suspect that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The pedestrian was believed to be outside a crosswalk when the collision occurred.
All lanes of South Tustin Street were closed between East La Veta and Fairhaven avenues while police investigated.
